Clinical Supervision and Consultation
Elizabeth Venart has over ten years of experience supervising counselors across a variety of settings. Her approach to supervision is, like her counseling style, rooted in a humanistic, relational framework. While she provides clinicians with a variety of different strategies to help them in their work with clients, she focuses first on the quality of the relationship the counselor has with the client and any obstacles to empathy and mindfulness. From there, she invites counselors to listen deeply to clients and their stories and to trust themselves and their intuition more fully.
Clinical Consultation
Elizabeth provides individual and group consultation for experienced clinicians seeking additional support, resources, and alternative perspectives. Working in private practice — or in an organizational setting that does not provide adequate support or supervision — can be isolating. Clinical consultation enhances the quality of the work we do with clients by providing a new lens through which to view clients’ struggles, understand our own reactions to the work, and determine the most effective interventions to promote positive change.
Counselor Wellness and Career Development Consultations
Individual and Organizational Consultations on Vicarious Trauma and Counselor Wellness
Elizabeth provides both individual and organizational consultations on vicarious traumatization and counselor wellness. Her counselor wellness intensives offer education on effective self-care strategies and mediate the possible negative and isolating effects of the work a focus on community and connection.
She also works as a consultant with healthcare and nonprofit organizations to address the impact of compassion fatigue and vicarious trauma on their organizational culture and functioning — and assists them in creating comprehensive intervention plans. These intervention plans may include multi-level educational programs, integration of a focus on counselor wellness in regular practitioner meetings, wellness retreats, concrete changes to the physical environment, and other custom-tailored recommendations.
Individual Consultations on Career Identity and Development
Elizabeth provides individual consultations to helping professionals wishing to explore career identity and development. Experienced and knowledgeable in the field — and the challenges and opportunities it offers, she supports counselors in crafting individualized career development plans to enhance sustainability in the profession. By focusing on what counselors find most meaningful and rewarding in the work and addressing energy drains, Elizabeth helps counselors create lasting change.
